Eyes on the Main Game

With all the noise in the world we can easily lose focus of what's most important. That's exactly what some in authority want us to do.

My wife ran into a Confidential subscriber at a coffee shop yesterday.

They've met many times before and it didn't take long for the discussion to turn to the state of the world.

As part of that conversation there were concerns raised about how focussing on what's really going on, as opposed to what the authorities tell you is going on, can be a somewhat obsessive commitment.

Many who find a loose thread in the fabric of society, cannot let go until they have followed it down a very deep and dark rabbit hole.

Rabbit Hole is the term I use for the exasperatingly addictive nonsense that is promulgated on parts of the Internet.

It's been defined as:

a complexly bizarre or difficult state or situation conceived of as a hole into which one falls or descends, especially; one in which the pursuit of something (such as an answer or solution) leads to other questions, problems, or pursuits

It's a very apt term for chasing the real from the unreal in modern society.

Distilling what is plausible from the entirely fabricated is getting harder as almost everything can be misrepresented or fabricated today.

This is made even more difficult as previously considered conspiracy theories are found to be actual conspiracies.

It's why I say trust nothing, verify everything.
