The Threat Of Political Islam

With so much happening in the political domain it is hard knowing exactly where to start. Perhaps the good news?

The most poorly designed tax in the history of the country became history yesterday when the ‘mining tax’ was finally abolished by the Senate at the third attempt.

This tax was a thought bubble legislated by the previous government that was designed to collect billions of dollars which would then pay for billions of dollars of handouts.

It collected a fraction of what was budgeted and ultimately was a negative drain on the budget. Its repeal is expected to improve the budget bottom line by a massive $10 billion over the next few years.

Saving taxpayers’ money and rebuilding the national balance sheet whilst abolishing taxes is the best possible outcome.

I only wish the outcome in the Middle East could be so positive. The barbarity and atrocities being committed there by fundamentalists seeking to establish Sharia law and a global caliphate in the name of Islam is an abomination.

They are butchering religious minorities, enslaving women and killing rival Islamic factions to achieve their aims. This morning another video emerged of the brutal decapitation of a Western journalist.

Our government has been very strong in the face of this global threat and is part of an international mission to provide relief and support to those standing in the way of these murderous hordes.

While these events are taking place thousands of kilometres away, we are not immune to their impact in our own country. An estimated 150 Australian citizens are already fighting with the Islamic State and one Muslim community leader suggested they had prevented another 1500 locals from joining them.

For many years I have been warning about the threat of political Islam to Western nations. There are people in our midst who seek to establish Islamic or sharia law in Australia and the West.

We are very fortunate that most Muslims in Australia fled oppressive Sharia regimes and have no desire to see their laws replicated here.

However, there are a growing number of Islamic fundamentalists in Australia who do want to radically change our society. Groups like Hizb ut-Tahrir advocate for a global caliphate governed by Sharia law and defend the jihadists at work around the globe.

Even so called moderate community leaders like Keyser Trad have been identified as anti-Semitic and dangerous by the court. If we don’t deal with these cancerous elements in our society and stand strong in the affirmation of our societal values we will undermine the fabric of our community.

The implications of such a failure is evident through much of Western Europe and the UK where citizens stand divided and political will to tackle the problems is subsumed by the policy of appeasement in the name of ‘multiculturalism’ and ‘diversity’.
