The push for smart cities to ease the commute may be more about corralling the populace into easily controllable areas.

The latest concern to be labelled a 'conspiracy theory' is the 15 minute city concept.

It's part of the smart city move where planners are making more services available locally to ease long commutes. It sounds idyllic.

Residents will be able to walk more, reducing the need for vehicle use.  That would likely bring health and wellbeing benefits as well as save commuters a lot of money.

So what is the problem with these smart cities?
