The political landscape has detonated
They say a week is a long time in politics. What happened in Farrer in just twelve months is nothing short of historic.

They say a week is a long time in politics. What happened in Farrer in just twelve months is nothing short of historic.
At the 2025 election, One Nation polled 6.9% in Farrer. That was only slightly up from the 6.6% it received in 2022. But now? The political landscape has detonated. When counting finished on Saturday night, One Nation was sitting just shy of 40% of the primary vote. A 37% swing in primary votes in a single year is not normal politics. It is a revolt.
And what will truly terrify the political establishment is this: the One Nation vote on the ground was significantly stronger than the opinion polls predicted. The anger out there is deeper than the experts, consultants, pollsters and media class ever imagined.
Just as remarkable has been the extinction-level collapse of the Liberal vote in Farrer.
In 2013, under Tony Abbott, the Liberals dominated Farrer with a towering 58% primary vote. Back then, the Liberal Party still resembled a conservative party. Then came the surrender. The appeasement. The party lurched left, abandoned its base, sneered at its own supporters, and embraced the obsessions of inner-city elites.
And the result, yesterday, the Liberal vote collapsed to a humiliating 12%. A 46% wipeout. Four out of every five Liberal voters from 2013 have now deserted the party. They did not drift to the centre. They stampeded to the right, with One Nation roaring to nearly 40% and the Nationals scraping together 10%.
The brutal truth is unavoidable: the so-called 'moderate faction' of the Liberal Party has destroyed it.
From climate hysteria to COVID authoritarianism, the leftist Liberal moderates betrayed every principle the party once claimed to stand for in a pathetic attempt to win approval from people who would never vote for them anyway.
Go through the list of the moderate Liberals' policies:
Every single one of these decisions and policy appeasements was a dagger into the heart of what the Liberal Party once proudly stood for.
And in doing so, they have sown the seeds of their own spectacular destruction. The moderates did not merely weaken the party. They hollowed it out, gutted it, and left it bleeding out on the side of the road.
It is hard to blame Angus Taylor for this; his performance as a leader has been solid. However, he inherited a political corpse; a rat-infested wreck with rotten timbers, threadbare sails, and water pouring through the hull. His only realistic option may be to let the whole thing burn to the waterline and start again from the ashes.
But the real fuel behind the One Nation surge is the breathtaking incompetence and dishonesty of the Albanese regime.
Ordinary Australians can see exactly what is happening to their country.
Mass migration at unprecedented levels has unleashed a housing catastrophe and fractured national cohesion. Living standards are collapsing. Energy prices are spiralling under the insanity of Net Zero. The cost of everything is exploding while the quality of life deteriorates before people's eyes.
Australians know the country is in decline. And Albanese is the worst Prime Minister in our nation's history, leading a gaggle of incompetents who couldn't run a chook raffle in a pub.
However, the punters don't believe that the Coalition has either the courage or the will to reverse it. And so they are flocking to One Nation in desperation.
Then we had the far-left GetUp's arrogant interference in Farrer, which stands as one of the most hilariously catastrophic own goals in Australian political history.
Only seven weeks ago, the so-called "independent" candidate, Milthorpe, was the odds-on favourite to win at $1.91, while One Nation was languishing at $4.33.
But then GetUp barged in, demanding donations for anti-One Nation advertising, trying to associate Pauline Hanson with President Trump.
Infected with TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome) in a single stroke, GetUp ripped the mask off their fake "independent" candidate and exposed her for what she really was: a Climate 200-backed Teal operative pretending to be independent.
Whatever credibility she had left instantly evaporated.
Every dollar GetUp spent did not merely go down the drain; it actively turbocharged the One Nation vote.
Reports suggest GetUp and Climate 200 poured close to a million dollars into the campaign attacking One Nation. The gullible donors who funded that circus are now scraping industrial quantities of egg off their faces, wondering how they managed to engineer such a spectacular political humiliation.
Pauline Hanson should send them flowers.
And while the media obsesses over the Liberal collapse, another political bloodbath is being ignored: the Greens' implosion.
The Greens' vote more than halved, collapsing to a pathetic 2.2%.
And Labor was not even running. The Greens should have feasted on that left-wing vote. Instead, voters abandoned them in droves.
Back in 2022, the Greens managed 9.1%. But since then, they have abandoned their environmental objectives entirely and transformed into a bizarre ideological circus built around transgender activism, Islamist extremism, and Marxist radicalism.
Australians are recoiling from it.
And that collapse spells enormous danger for Albanese, because Labor polling around 30% increasingly depends on Green preferences to cling to power.
Voters are now asking themselves a very uncomfortable question:
If the Albanese government is this bad already, what does Australia look like after another election when Labor is openly dependent on the Greens with their transgender activism, Islamist extremism, and Marxist radicalism to govern the nation?
Then there was the ABC's astonishing election coverage, describing a vote for One Nation as a "big and dangerous mistake" that would "legitimise" the party.
The arrogance dripping from the ABC is extraordinary.
These taxpayer-funded elites openly sneer at the very Australians forced to pay their salaries. They regard the views of millions of ordinary Australians as backward, illegitimate and beneath contempt.
The ABC's coverage of the Farrer by-election only reinforced what millions already suspect: the real "big and dangerous mistake" has been forcing taxpayers to bankroll a far-left propaganda machine with more than a billion dollars every year.
The time has come to defund the ABC completely, cut it off from the taxpayer teat forever, and force it to survive, if it can, on voluntary subscriptions.
The Farrer by-election was not merely another electoral contest. It was a warning shot. A revolt. A signal that the old political order is broken. The Labor-versus-Coalition duopoly that dominated Australian politics for generations is over.
And if the Farrer result is repeated nationally at the next federal election, One Nation will no longer merely be a protest party. It will become a genuine contender for government.
