The Great Escape

The Great Escape

The global push for government to have even greater influence on your life is growing.

Multiple governments are intent on tracking your every moment through the use of digital IDs, Central Bank Digital Currencies, facial recognition and biometric data.

Those unconcerned by Big Brother surveillance claim you have nothing to fear if you have nothing to hide.

That's a simplistic, naive and dangerous disposition to have.

You see, once government knows all about what you do, say and spend, then they can basically force compliance with any of their future schemes.

We're not quite there yet but there are new warning signs popping up everywhere. The latest is in Kuwait.

Armstrong Economics reports:

Kuwait has forced over one million citizens to hand over their biometric data in one of the most extreme pushes for digital ID. Kuwait introduced a national electronic ID (eID) that they say will assist with identification verification, digital signatures, E-government access, and the secure exchange of data. The deadline to file for this mandatory program was September 30 and the consequences for failing to comply were swift.

On October 1, the Ministry of Interior announced that those who failed to submit their data would be prohibited from all electronic services such as withdrawals, transfers, and account transfers. One cannot even withdraw cash. Around 35,000 people have been blocked out of their bank accounts and are unable to even view the balance. A few weeks later, those in noncompliance has their electronic bank cards deactivated. Visa, MasterCard, and K-Net all abided by the government’s rule.

In effect, if you don't comply your ability to participate in government or financial services has been stopped.

'So what' I hear some people say, 'this is Kuwait and doesn't impact us'.

Well you'd be foolish to discount this move when you can already see parallels emerging in the West.

Remember, the Canadian tyrant Justin Trudeau froze bank accounts of those daring to protest his draconian COVID measures. Australia has introduced a digital ID code and an eSafety Commissioner. The UK has wall to wall video surveillance and facial recognition technology.

And they're only just getting started.

The CBDCs are already in development in most countries and multiple governments are working toward the abolition of cash - labelling it dirty or only used by criminals.

We've seen how the apparatus of state (and social media companies) have been weaponised and used against political opponents in the United States. Now imagine how that could implemented if there was nowhere to hide from Big Brother.

We'd all be contained in a digital prison.

Resisting these moves is a two fold process.

First we need to use our vote to reject any move toward digital tyranny. Unfortunately that requires a genuine and principles alternative which is sadly lacking in the major parties in Australia.

Sure, one is slightly less bad than the other but ultimately they'll both take us to the same place.

The most important measure is to decentralise your life right now.

Understand and embrace the technology that can help you keep your freedom and privacy. None of them are perfect but they can certainly help.

VPNs can keep your internet life secure. Decentralised networks can make your digital assets more secure, precious metals have no counter-party risk while stacking cash can keep some independence alive.

Think of them as being like building a tunnel under the wire while the walls of the prison are being constructed around us.

In that sense, we are all Steve McQueen and his crew in a modern day version of The Great Escape.

Thought for the Day

“Colonel Von Luger, it is the sworn duty of all officers to try to escape. If they cannot escape, then it is their sworn duty to cause the enemy to use an inordinate number of troops to guard them, and their sworn duty to harass the enemy to the best of their ability."
