The Cult of Climatism

Traditional worship is being abandoned in favor of a new idolatry that has all the hallmarks of a cult.

The Cult of Climatism

It’s Good Friday, the holiest day of the Christian calendar.

But to most Australians it’s just the start of a long weekend.

Religious celebration or adherence seems to have dropped off the priority list for many Australians.

Perhaps I should amend that to traditional religious celebration…because there are all sorts of new spheres of worship popping up in the community.

That’s not surprising as nature abhors a vacuum and will always seek to fill it.

And mankind has an innate craving for an external being to revere or worship – particularly during difficult times.

I am sure we can all appreciate that. You are in some parlous situation over which you have no control. The sense of helplessness is overcome if you believe there is something or someone else who may be able to assist.

It's why so many people turn to prayer in moments of real need.

But progressive theology isn't actually about God.

Lefties have substituted the creator with worship of the earth or self adoration. Knowing that helps to understand the attitudes and actions of the hard-core left.

Self-worship is a way of morally justifying any action.

If this life is all we have, then the only one to hold us to account for our behaviour is yourself. If there is no ‘moral’ penalty then as long as I am ok with it, what does it matter how it affects others.

It’s why so many in this space seem prepared to negatively impact the lives of others to satisfy their own whims or peccadillos.

Then you have the earth worshippers.

Don’t get me wrong, I am in awe of nature. I see beauty and majesty in every aspect of it, but that’s a long way from worshipping the earth.

But that’s what climate cultists and the ‘mankind is just another animal species’ people do.

In their mind, humans are a cancer on the planet.

These are the people who openly want to see less human souls walking the earth but launch campaigns to stop the culling of kangaroos.

While many of these gaia worshippers claim to be non-religious their ideas and behaviour have all the hallmarks of an organised cult.

The Cult Education Institute have published some warning signs of what they describe as 'unsafe groups'.

I’ll run through some of them and then you decide for yourself if the climate crusade seems more like a cult than a cause.

  1. Absolute authoritarianism without meaningful accountability.
Think of you highest profile climate evangelists – virtue signalling celebrities who don’t practice what they preach.
  2. No tolerance for questions or critical inquiry.
Ask yourself, what response do you see whenever questioning the claims of the climate cult?
  3. Unreasonable fear about the outside world, such as impending catastrophe, evil conspiracies and persecutions.
It’s doom and gloom all the time for the climatistas. When the end of the world doesn’t happen on schedule, they simply roll out the date for the rapture that destroys humanity.
  4. Followers feel they can never be “good enough.”
This is classic cult behaviour. There is always the next level of virtue signalling to achieve. Drive a Prius…better not to drive at all…that sort of thing.
  5. The group/leader is always right.
While there isn’t a specific climate cult leader, it seems to go in a rotational basis for whomever is getting the most publicity. Think Al Gore, Leonardo Di Caprio, Greta Thunberg and so forth.  What they all have in common is while they are in charge of the messaging, their word is divine.
  6. Exclusivity on truth
The holy book of the climate cult is known as ‘climate science’. It cannot be questioned and is above reproach. Any observation that confirms the tenets of the movement is deemed “climate science,” while actual scientific research that disputes their conclusions is derided as “denialism.”

So what’s the verdict?

The Climate change movement has all the characteristics of a cult and fits the bill as a potentially unsafe group.

That suggests rather than trying to reason with the unreasonable, we’d be better off staging climate interventions instead.
