Not Fighting Fair

A few years back, I was one of a handful of Senators who crossed the floor to vote against a referendum to recognise local government.

Both Liberals and Labor wanted to local government in the constitution to allow them to further interfere in local communities.

Fortunately an election was called before this referendum could get started and the proposal has largely disappeared.

I mention this story for two reasons.
