Dumber by the Day

The freefall of our education system is a direct result of lower teaching, behaviour and accountability standards.

Australia is becoming dumber by the day.

That's not because we are importing hundreds of thousands of people from the third world to fill menial jobs but because our education system is hopeless.

Our academic results are going backwards despite the billions being pumped in and the earlier institutionalisation of children into state care.

The 2024 NAPLAN (National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy) is a disaster, with one in three students failing to meet the benchmarks.

One in ten were identified as requiring extra help to 'catch up at school'.

The usual suspects were out of the blocks early, insisting the problem was teachers' low pay and a lack of school investment.

That's absolute bollocks.

Let's deal with the teachers problem first.

Any drop-kick can now become a teacher. You don't have to pass year 12 (in the sense of getting 59% as it was during my matriculation) to be admitted to a teaching degree.

If these teaching degrees are anything like the others handed out at our diploma mills, you don't even have to speak English to get through.

How does having our intellectual midwits in charge of educating our children enhance our standards?
