Caught Short by Electric Car
We are told electric cars are the future. Judging by the needs of today, even the best of them have a way to go to be practical.
A little while ago, I had a change of heart about Elon Musk.
I now accept he is a genius who thinks in planes that are not visible to many of us.
Before that, I questioned the sustainability of his businesses as they all seemed to rely on continuing contributions from shareholders and weren't making money.
That may still be the case, but I am in awe of his capacity to think differently to the rest of us.
That doesn't mean I'm about to buy a Tesla, though. While they may be amazing cars technologically, the electric vehicle thingy isn't really sensible.
Not only are electric cars environmentally unsound to build, but they are also a nightmare to dispose of. They have next to no resale value and are virtually unrepairable.
None of that sounds very appealing to me.
The lack of appeal was compounded by the tales of a mate who does actually own a Tesla.
