It's often much more than the anticipated and this is particularly true in the political realm.
Politicians bank on the voters having a short memory and forgiving the betrayal of founding principles. They expect their supporters to stay loyal and maintain the faith.
Sometimes that expectation is well placed, other times it isn't.
