The Mother of all Bubbles

You are probably familiar with the Tulip bulb mania of the 17th century.

At the peak of the hysteria, a single Tulip bulb was valued at about ten times the value of a skilled worker. It's been written that one buyer offered 12 acres of land for one Semper Augustus bulb.

Like all bubbles, this one eventually burst but not before vast fortunes were made and lost in the process.

Today, we have a new Tulip mania making people rich and it seems even less rational.
