Politics should be a mission, not a career. Term limits for politicians are a good idea and have worked effectively through history.

When I was a member of the Australian Senate, I became an advocate for term limits for politicians.

Instead of seeing parliamentary service as a 'career' to be enjoyed for as long as you can convince the voters you deserve the job, a term limit would focus the new politician on outcomes rather than longevity.

Knowing they had limited time in the role, a parliamentarian would get in, get it done and then get out.

It's not a new concept but one that has proved effective through history.
