It seemed like a good idea at the time but the war in Afghanistan became a futile quest to change an ancient culture.

Some good news today. The PM has confirmed that Australia’s remaining troops in Afghanistan will be coming home.
It comes just hours after US President Joe Biden announced the withdrawal of US troops, effectively ending the 20 year war.
I celebrate this development but do so with a heavy heart. Australia has paid a heavy price for seemingly little gain.
Afghanistan remains a corrupt basket case of a country.
